A Special Stop

We caught part of a smile on camera... he's intent on never having it fully photographed!

We made the trek to Jacksonville on Thursday for a much needed trip to Sam's - and Target and even hit up O'Charley's for some "suburban food" on our way out of town we decided last minute to make a very special stop (sadly I didn't have my camera on me so there isn't a photo for the post). We stopped in to see our Maternal Fetal Medicine specialist who guided us through all the twist and turns that pregnancy brought our way!

We spent so many hours in that waiting room, many times holding back tears wondering what each visit would mean so I was a bit nervous about popping in with a healthy baby knowing what some of the moms-to-be in the waiting room could be facing. Thankfully when I went to the door, the waiting room was empty, it was the end of the day and they were with the last patient! Dr. Wright, the nurses, and Nell, the fantabulous ultrasound tech, were so excited to see him and were so glad to hear his birth story and how healthy he was! We really can't thank them enough for everything they did to make sure that Little Al arrived as wonderfully as he did and we think he was worth every second of worry!

Growth Spurts

Ahh... after three days of a seriously cranky over-eating machine, I'm pretty certain that the six week growth spurt has passed. It started Saturday evening (the eating portion did anyway the cranky part began on Friday!) and he at ever hour and a half to two hours until last night at eight o'clock! Talk about a tired Momma! But last night my little Prince slept from 9 pm until 3 am! Six hours is fantastic after the last few nights of needing to feed him again as soon as he ate! Him hitting his six week growth spurt also means he's hit all of his milestones accordingly and that we really do not need to use an adjusted age for future milestones. It was something we were watching with him being born early but little Al seems to be right on with everything! I'll be interested to see how much he weighs at his two month appointment because today I'm also packing away some of his newborn clothes and washing the rest of his three month clothes (after we tried on three different outfits this morning and I gave up on the newborn stuff!). I'm still trying to catch one of his smiles on camera but for the past two mornings he's begun to smile spontaneously at other objects, his favorite thing to smile at is the lights over the kitchen table - all the toys he's got and this kid wants the box! I'll get some new pictures downloaded soon, but for now it's time for a diaper change!

Play Time :)

Little Al is now smiling all the time and learning how to play with stuff. He loves his play mat and especially his red bird! They chat at least once a day...

We'll find a way to get his smiles on camera soon, but you never know when they are coming so it's hard to catch them on film! Play time must be exhausting too, because someone slept for 6 1/2 hours last night!

Happy 4th of July!

(Momma D - my shades are still a little to big!)

Well, we missed the fireworks because we were worried about Al's ears and the generator on the Frequent Flyer wasn't working so we didn't get to camp out at the Cape either, but we still made the best of our holiday weekend! Friday we took the big boat out for a short fishing trip and below are the pictures of Little Al's first boat ride! I nearly had a heart attack when we passed him up on the bridge, but the guys made sure he was safe! Alan picked up a charter for the 4th so we hung out at the house and chilled! Enjoy the pictures!

One month check up!

Little Al is getting so big so fast - at least to us, he's just now looking the size of most newborns to other people! He started out at 6 lbs 0 oz, 18 inches long, with a 12 inch head, yesterday he was 8 lbs 6 oz, 19 1/4 inches long, with a 14 1/2 inch head! He's now in the 18th percentile for everything and looking so cute too!

A shout out to Al's buddy, Holly!
